As Chair for the Hays County Democratic Party
Mark Trahan has been serving as the county chair of the Hays County Democratic Party since February 2021.
After serving as a precinct chair in Kyle for two years, Mark was overwhelmingly elected to the chair position by precinct chairs in Hays County. As chair, Mark expanded the county party, increased transparency and efficiency, boosted fundraising, and diversified the party.
Mark holds a B.A. in government from the University of Texas, an MSW and a Ph.D. in social work from the University of Houston. Mark is an educator in social work, and specializes in research around fatherhood.
He is married to his wife, Lisa, and they have two daughters. Mark loves the outdoors, including mountain biking, hiking, and running.

Expanded the county party from 30 people in 5 committee to over 100 people in 10 committees

Despite the limitations created by the pandemic, Mark increased county fundraising by 30%
Stood strong against Republican Gerrymandering and helped create a strong democratic leaning precinct.
